Introducing Dr. Seongtae Kim, a passionate veterinarian with over 10 years of experience dedicated to animal health care. Dr. Kim earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from Chonnam National University in Korea, where he is also a licensed veterinarian. He is currently a candidate for the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association’s National Examining Board, having successfully passed the BCSE and NAVLE exams.
Dr. Kim’s background blends hands-on clinical practice with academic teaching. Before joining Birchwood Vet, he directed Daul Companion Animal Clinic in Seoul, overseeing daily operations and focusing on surgeries and veterinary dentistry. His expertise in dental care also led him to teach small animal dentistry at several institutions, sharing his knowledge with future veterinarians.
Committed to continuous learning, Dr. Kim holds a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist (CVA) certification from Chi University and is passionate about integrating alternative therapies into conventional veterinary care. His dedication to animal well-being is further demonstrated by his service as Chief Veterinary Officer in the Republic of Korea Navy, where he managed the health of military working dogs.
Now settling into life in Prince George with his family, Dr. Kim is embracing the local culture and can often be found enjoying community events and festivals as he gets to know the city he now calls home.
